It communicates with ReceiptKit in these ways:<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>1. Automatic printing (bridge).<\/strong> When a print rule runs (or you click Test print), the plugin sends the mapped order data \u2014 line items, totals, order and customer details, and any extra order fields you configure \u2014 to ReceiptKit's print API at <code>www.receiptkit.io<\/code>, authenticated with your public API key, so the receipt can be rendered and delivered to your printer.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>2. Browser printing.<\/strong> Browser printing renders the receipt in your own browser; the order data never leaves it. To do that, the \"Print receipt\" page loads three things from your configured ReceiptKit host (<code>www.receiptkit.io<\/code> by default) over HTTPS, authenticated with your public API key where noted: (a) the <strong>template definition<\/strong> (your receipt design \u2014 layout, text and fields; authenticated), fetched by your server and cached locally for an hour; (b) ReceiptKit's <strong>renderer script<\/strong> (<code>\/renderer\/v1.0.0\/receiptkit-browser-print.js<\/code>), the service's client-side component that turns a template plus order data into a printable receipt \u2014 loading it sends no order data, only the ordinary HTTP request; and (c) the <strong>font files<\/strong> your template uses, fetched by hash from ReceiptKit's public font endpoint. After a receipt is printed, the plugin sends a small <strong>usage event<\/strong> to ReceiptKit's API (event type, the template id, the order id, and \"woocommerce\" as the source) so your dashboard can show printing activity; no order contents are included.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>3. Settings screen (data + live status).<\/strong> The settings screen loads your bridges, printers and templates from ReceiptKit's API to populate the rule editor. It also opens a single read-only WebSocket connection (MQTT over WSS) to ReceiptKit's live-status message broker at <code>a3cdv9umpaq1po-ats.iot.us-east-1.amazonaws.com<\/code> \u2014 an AWS IoT Core endpoint operated for ReceiptKit \u2014 authorized with your public API key, to show live bridge and printer status (online\/offline, out of paper, cover open). This connection only receives status messages for your account; no order or customer data is sent over it. The MQTT client library (<code>mqtt.min.js<\/code>) is bundled with the plugin.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>4. Printer support requests.<\/strong> If you submit the \"Request printer support\" form, the details you enter (printer make and model, order volume, your email, an optional note, and your store URL) are sent to ReceiptKit so we can follow up.<\/p>\n\n<p>Apart from the ReceiptKit renderer script and font files described in (2), which are part of the ReceiptKit service and load only on the \"Print receipt\" page, no remote scripts, styles or images are loaded from any host.<\/p>\n\n<p>ReceiptKit: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.receiptkit.io\/terms\">terms of service<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.receiptkit.io\/privacy\">privacy policy<\/a>. Rules save automatically.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Test print<\/strong> on the rule's row to confirm, then enable it with the toggle.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<!--section=faq-->\n<dl>\n<dt id=\"how%20does%20browser%20printing%20work%3F\"><h3>How does browser printing work?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Open an order and click <strong>Print<\/strong> in the ReceiptKit box (or the printer icon in the orders list). The plugin renders your designed template with the order's data right in your browser and opens the normal print dialog; choose your receipt printer and print. It needs a printer installed on that computer with its manufacturer's driver (Star, Epson, and most others provide Windows and macOS drivers) \u2014 the driver converts the receipt for the printer, so there is nothing else to install. Set the paper size to your roll width (80 mm or 58 mm), margins to none, and turn off headers and footers. Cutting and the cash drawer are controlled by the driver's settings. On a dedicated counter PC, Chrome's <code>--kiosk-printing<\/code> flag prints straight to the default printer without a dialog. Browser printing is free and unlimited on every plan. For printing with no dialog and nobody at the computer \u2014 a kitchen printer, for example \u2014 install the Receipt Bridge and add a print rule.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"do%20i%20need%20a%20specific%20printer%3F\"><h3>Do I need a specific printer?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>For <strong>browser printing<\/strong>, any printer installed on your computer works \u2014 thermal, inkjet or laser. For <strong>automatic printing<\/strong> through the bridge, you need a thermal printer that speaks StarPRNT, Star Raster, or ESC\/POS \u2014 that covers <strong>Star Micronics<\/strong>, <strong>Epson<\/strong>, <strong>Rongta<\/strong>, <strong>Munbyn<\/strong>, and most generic ESC\/POS-compatible models. Use your public key (<code>rk_pub_\u2026<\/code>) \u2014 it is safe to store here and can only print and read status.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"how%20do%20print%20rules%20work%3F\"><h3>How do print rules work?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Each rule is a <strong>When \/ If \/ Then<\/strong> automation. <em>When<\/em> an order event happens (a status change, a refund, an order being created, or a manual click), the rule checks <em>if<\/em> your conditions match the order's data, and if so runs the <em>then<\/em> \u2014 one or more print actions (template + printer + optional cash drawer + copies). Add as many rules as you like; for example one for order receipts on <em>Processing<\/em> and another for a refund receipt when an order is refunded. Use the <strong>Test<\/strong> button on a rule to check it against your most recent order before enabling it.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"can%20i%20print%20refund%20receipts%3F\"><h3>Can I print refund receipts?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Yes. Add a rule whose event is <strong>Order is refunded<\/strong> and point it at a refund template (clone the \"WooCommerce Refund\" template from the gallery). It prints on both full and partial refunds, once per refund.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"can%20i%20print%20delivery%20times%2C%20tips%2C%20or%20other%20fields%20added%20by%20another%20plugin%3F\"><h3>Can I print delivery times, tips, or other fields added by another plugin?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Yes. Many plugins (delivery-slot pickers, tip add-ons, gift options) store their data as order meta. In <strong>WooCommerce \u2192 ReceiptKit \u2192 Settings \u2192 Extra order fields<\/strong>, list the meta keys you want on your receipts \u2014 one per line, with an optional label after a <code>|<\/code> (for example <code>_delivery_time | Delivery time<\/code>). Each order then sends those values to your templates two ways: a repeatable <code>metaFields<\/code> list (label + value) you can drop into any template, and an individual field per key (<code>_delivery_time<\/code> becomes <code>{{deliveryTime}}<\/code>) for prominent placement \u2014 like a big pickup time at the top of a kitchen ticket. Only the keys you list are sent.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"does%20it%20work%20with%20orderable%3F\"><h3>Does it work with Orderable?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Yes. Orderable orders are WooCommerce orders, so they print like any other. When Orderable is active the plugin also adds the Orderable service type (delivery, pickup or table), the requested date and time slot, the fulfilment location, and \u2014 with Orderable Pro \u2014 the table number and checkout tip to every receipt as template fields, with nothing to configure. Start from the \"Orderable \u2013 Kitchen Ticket\", \"Orderable \u2013 Delivery\/Pickup Ticket\" or \"Orderable \u2013 Customer Receipt\" templates in the ReceiptKit gallery, then add a rule from one of the \"Orderable\" recipes. Unlike Orderable's built-in print button, receipts print automatically the moment an order is paid, on a kitchen printer that doesn't need a screen next to it.
